Blog Update — December 7, 2007
This week I’ve had the opportunity to do a lot of behind-the-scenes work on the blog. Essentially, the new theme here uses “CSS” for rendering pictures, but most of my pictures that accompany articles use “HTML” for how the picture is presented. If you used Internet Explorer, you didn’t notice. If you use Firefox or Safari, the picture moved right up to the text — not what I want to show.
Consequently, I spent most of yesterday going into each article I have written since the beginning of the blog — 131 of them — and updating the picture framing.
Interestingly, I also found a lot of missing in action items which I didn’t realize were gone from my conversion from Yahoo! to Bluehost hosting and transferring the articles over. So much of the day was replacing pictures and fixing up the content.
Here is some of what got updated:
TI Antenna Setup — it was missing the pictures of the antennas…
Searching for Salt Water and the pictures for the County and State Parks were missing pictures.
Icom 7700 You Tube Video — the link properly displays now on the blog…and this is one of my more popular articles on the blog! One could see the video OK if you clicked on the link over to You Tube, but this fixes it so you can see the video on the blog itself…like it should be…
General fixing of the pictures was also done. Plus, I updated the series of rotating pictures at the header of the theme. Hopefully, they will represent ham radio and contesting well.
I’ve also added in a “Similar Posts” plugin that will automatically bring up other posts relating to the one being viewed.

microHAM Router 5.1.1 Available
Router 5.1.1 has been released. This version contains several fixes and one significant operational improvement.
Router 5.1.1 supports Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista (32 bit only). Discontinued operating systems (Windows 95 and all versions of Windows 98) are not supported.
The major change that will effect Kenwood and TenTec users - the “Digital Bandmap” Voice/Digital switching is now controlled by the transmit frequency instead of the “Operating” (or current) frequency.
Of particular interest to WriteLog users, baud rate emulation on the FSK ports has been fixed. This should allow RTTYrite to work properly with Soundboard FSK and Stereo soundboard FSK choices.
Hat tip to Joe, W4TV.

WriteLog 10.64D Now Available
WriteLog version 10.64D is now available for download. What’s new:
- It is recommended that if you do networking with WriteLog that you upgrade to this version. 10.64D has significant changes to the networking function resulting in better recovery of lost network and stability during the contest.
- Networking disables user input of local machine name, and otherwise automatically handles the issues with TCP/IP numeric addresses and host names.
- Networking creates a circulating list of 10 most recent networking logs.
- Setup package has WriteLog.msi with no attempt to rename it from .setup_msi preventing some installation issues with older versions of Windows.
- RFCHAMP 1.0.0.2 — increase number of supported oblast prefixes.
- Some information at Save Configuration was not always being saved where it could be found. Now it is.
- Right click on Super Check Partial brings up its property page.
- USA Sub Bands for Band Map is now updated to current
